PURPOSE OF STUDY
To assess whether NIMHANS ECHO model of tele-mentoring increase skilled capacity and reduce treatment gap in AUDs in DMHP districts of Karnataka
- Increase in number of Identification, screening and assessment for AUDs for the patients attending this healthcare using a task sharing approach
- Provide evidence-based intervention to the patients as per the collaboratively developed treatment algorithm and best practice guidelines
This is a cluster randomized trial of DMHP spokes to look at the effectiveness of NIMHANS ECHO model of tele-mentoring wherein 26 DMHP districts of Karnataka have been randomized into two groups, i.e. the DMHP ECHO (Intervention) group and DMHP Service As Usual (Control) group. The participants from the intervention arm will be trained and hand-held through 11 months, from February 2019 till January 2020 in terms of managing Addiction related cases.
The participants include all the health professionals of these DMHP ECHO districts, i.e. Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Psychiatric Social Worker and Staff nurse.
